IVF - Choosing the right acupuncturist

IVF is an expensive endeavour; both financially and emotionally.  So when you choose your your acupuncturist you want to make sure you are getting the best fit for you.  My patients in my North Sydney acupuncture clinic reported on a few things to consider:


  • Knowledgeable: They need to understand the science behind IVF
  • Personable: You are going through a difficult time, and you have a big emotional investment. Does your acupuncturist get this?
  • Environment: A relaxing atmosphere from an attentive acupuncturist in a beautiful comfortable clinic is a must!
  • Experience: You want to be in the best hands right?  Your acupuncturist must understand the latest protocols, but more importantly, what is happening to you
  • Availability: this has a double meaning; is your acupuncturist available for pre and post IVF acupuncture sessions? Also, is your acupuncturist available whilst in the session?  You don't want someone giving you a treatment than leaving you until time is up; but you also don't want someone who will talk your ears off

Acupuncture Face Lifts or better known as Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation (CFR)

Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation (CFR) is a subset of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that takes a holistic approach which aims to make a more beautiful you from the inside out. CFR reduces fine lines and wrinkles and lifts your prominent features on your face through acupuncture. Beauty often comes from the inside; so, your CFR treatment also incorporates a TCM diagnosis and treatment plan that addresses internal conditions that will make a healthier you that glows from the inside out.

Compared to mainstream facelifts, Botox injection, and acid peels, Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation (CFR) is far less invasive and can deliver comparable results. So, imagine having fantastic results without the risks that accompany surgery, or injecting poisons into your body! While most people don’t know CFR exists, it has actually been in use for more than 2000 years. In fact, wealthy women from ancient China used CFR to defy the effects of aging and maintain a youthful appearance. The modern counter-parts from the West such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Cher, and Madonna use CFR for health and vitality, and let’s face it: they look fabulous!

So how does Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation (CFR) work?

Acupuncture creates micro-traumas that activate fibroblasts in skin cells to increase collagen and elastin. Collagen is the strength component of skin cells, which will make the area firm and tighten up; elastin provides the flexibility, which provides tensile strength to the skin cell. So, by using acupuncture to increase the production of collagen and elastin you are effectively tightening and strengthening the skin surface therefore smoothing out fine line and wrinkles.

But this isn’t all it does!

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) work from the inside out. A lot of acupuncture channels travel through the face, so an imbalance in an organ system may influence certain areas of the face. Because we can impact areas of the face by targeting organ systems on distal acupuncture channels on the body, we can route oxygenated blood to the face, which will help produce that radiance of health. By addressing the underlying causes of disharmony through TCM diagnosis, I can marry the external and internal approaches providing a more lasting effect.
