Back and neck pain: my approach

When treating back and neck pain, it is essential tohave a strong understanding of the underlying anatomy, and the range of movement these areas are capable of.  I also look very closely to nearby structures that could be causing stress to this area.  To do this my knowledge of the biomedical framework has to be equal to, or greater than, my Chinese medicine knowledge.  


So when you come to your first consultation with me I'll use a numer of tools to determine your area of pain

 

  • Tests on range of motion  designed by experts in human mechanics
  • Tests on flexibility and stiffness designed by experts in human mechanics
  • Palpation: feeling for knots, stiffness
  • Visual: to look at patterns of discolouration and swelling
  • Listening: when going through your range of motions I'll be listening for cracks and creaks
  • Take your pulse: in Chinese medicine this will tel us if blood flow is smooth

After I have completed my examination I will determine if you need Tuina (Chinese massae), Acupuncture, herbs, heat, or a combination of these.  I will also give you some lifestyle advice that you can take home and ontinue with your treatment.  

Fixing and managing back and neck pain is a passion of mine; it is also something that I am very good at.  I achieve a great deal of success in this area with a satisfied customer base.

Acupuncture Face Lifts or better known as Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation (CFR)

Acupuncture creates micro-traumas that activate fibroblasts in skin cells to increase collagen and elastin. Collagen is the strength component of skin cells, which will make the area firm and tighten up; elastin provides the flexibility, which provides tensile strength to the skin cell. So, by using acupuncture to increase the production of collagen and elastin you are effectively tightening and strengthening the skin surface therefore smoothing out fine line and wrinkles.

But this isn’t all it does!

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) work from the inside out. A lot of acupuncture channels travel through the face, so an imbalance in an organ system may influence certain areas of the face. Because we can impact areas of the face by targeting organ systems on distal acupuncture channels on the body, we can route oxygenated blood to the face, which will help produce that radiance of health. By addressing the underlying causes of disharmony through TCM diagnosis, I can marry the external and internal approaches providing a more lasting effect.
